William Bennett, b. Robeson County 1760, is NOT the William, son of Thomas
Bennett, REV. WAR soldier. This error has caused much confusion in the
Bennett research. Thomas' son, William, died in 1804, in Duplin County. The
Robeson William migrated to Georgia and lived a full life. Thomas' son did
not serve in the war, married Mary Connerly, the daughter of Cullen Connerly,
and had three children, before he died at the age fo 35 or so, in Duplin.
Also in error in the Duplin/Sampson Revolutionary War Records by Bizzell and
Bizzell, is the annotation that John Bennett, another son of Thomas Bennett,
was married a second time, to a Mary Sheffield. He married Sarah Register,
migrated to Georgia and they both remained together until their deaths in
Southeast, Georgia. John died 1849/50 and Sarah in 1868.
