I am a descendant of Nathan Melton and his first wife Nancy through their
daughter Naomi Melton who married Thomas Smedley.
Before Thomas Smedley died, he furnished information that was included in
the journal of his nephew William A. Melton, Jr., stating that Naomi was the
daughter of Nathan Melton and Nancy his wife. He did not give her last
name, but others have shown it as Allen. The journal of William A. Melton
is on file in the GA State Archives family file for the Melton family.
