>>I'm new to Duplin County research, is there anyone out there who is
willing to take me under their wing, offline is ok, to explain to me
how/what
resources are available and the best way to search for info between
1755-1775? Prior to 1755 is a black hole.
For NC research:
It will be helpful (and it will be time-consuming to study) to obtain a book
entitled NORTH CAROLINA RESEARCH, GENEALOGY AND LOCAL HISTORY, second
edition; Editor Helen F. M. LEARY, C.G.; F.A.S.G.
In this book (remember second edition) you will find research strategies for
NC. You will find listings and discussions of all NC records---where they
are, what is in them, etc. The book should be found in most genealogical
libraries or can be borrowed on interlibrary loan. The North Carolina
Genealogical Society _might_ have copies for sale---that is where I bought
my copy back in 1996 or so.
