Dearest Subscribers:
I want to take the time to pass my sincere thanks to each of you for a
tremendous year in genealogy. I have learned so much history, so many family
legacies, and had so many offers of sharing among you that I am absolutely
amazed.
Even though most of the lists have been pretty quiet the last few month or
so, I am confident that 2000 will bring many new posts, subsequent
discoveries, and relationships that will endure the test of time.
I am very involved with the census transcription project on a national
level.; this is the major reason I have not been personally posting to the
lists with any regularity. I have taken on a lot of tasks that needed
attention and helped lighten the personal load of some folks on the national
management team. It is really rewarding work, I might even suggest that some
of you folks volunteer your time. We can use all the help we can get! For
those of you already transcribing and volunteering on other fronts, my
sincerest thank you goes to each of you.
I hope the lists have helped you in your quest to find your ancestors or even
your living relatives in some cases! I know that I found two aunts that I
never knew existed since my parents were divorced when I was about three
years old. I will get the opportunity to meet my birth mother in July 2000
at the first family reunion of her family that I get to attend. I have even
been fortunate enough to find the ancestors of my step mother thanks to some
folks on these lists. Your sharing has made my efforts all worhwhile.
Please consider posting once again to the lists. It is with your information
and queries that exchanges start taking place. Even the smallest tidbit of
information can be the key for someone unlocking the doors to their heritage!
If anyone has concerns, comments, or suggestions about the lists, please
send them along. I am open to doing whatever is necessary to make these
lists more productive and fun!
I wish each of you a successful and rewarding year in 2000.
Sincerely and humbly yours,
Wayne Duncan
