I have never seen John Grant McDonald. John McDonald/McDaniel was born in VA. and died in TN. I descend through his son Thomas Smith McDaniel who married Hannah Pettit. This John is a brother to Major Eli McDonald/McDaniel of Orange CO NC. Really Major Eli's name was Ely Pasley for his mother and grandmother (Mary Eley/Ely and Anna Pasley.
Margaret Watkins is probably a second marriage.
