David Gammon will be the guest speaker on September 27, 2005 of the Wilson County Genealogical Society meeting. The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m. and will adjourn at 8:45 p.m. Mark your calenders now !
The meeting will be held in the Wilson County Public Library in Wilson, NC. Library location; on the corner of Broad Street, Jackson Street, and Nash Street up town in Wilson. The main entrance of the library is now from Broad Street since library renovations. The front of the library faces Nash Street. (249 Nash Street West, Wilson, NC 27893-380. Phone 237-5355))
David Gammon is a native of Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He has been actively involved with genealogy for over thirty years. He has abstracted and compiled more than forty volumes of records on Edgecombe, Halifax, Northampton, Warren, and Bertie Counties with emphasis on wills, estates records, and tax lists.
He will speak to our group on "Lessons from Deed Books" and discuss the types of records found in Deed Books, what we can learn from them, and how to interpret them. The deed records can help us understand the lives of those who came before us. There are many differant types of deed records each having a specific purpose. Sometimes deeds are the only records we have to connect to our family histories.
We invite you to come hear David Gammon with us on September 27, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. There is no charge for this meeting, don't miss this wonderful opportunity ! Come a few minutes early to get a good seat.
