two groups of Scotts... likely connected but don't know how yet. The first group is John SCOTT b 1802 Davidson CO N Car spouse Nancy Unknown. Children are Andrew, William, Robert M, John M, Margaret, Jane and Thankful.
Robert M marries Mary A COUCH daughter of Jonathan Couch and Eunice GARDNER. Their daughter Rhoda C marries Augustus H RICE. (other children of Robert and Mary are Eliza, Robert T and Mary and ??Ilna(b 1871.. census unreadable)
The second group is James Scott married to Paulina PEACOCK. I think their son James ( b 1860 Guilford Co) (spouse unknown) is father to our William Scott b 1879 Guilford Co N Car spouse is Pearl RICE. Anyone from these SCOTT families please contact me.
There is a mysterious Quaker connection... it was said that the Scott family gave the land for the Friends College in Greensboro and William Scott (and wife Pearl RICE) are buried there although they were not Quakers. The Scott family owned most of the land surrounding the college until the 1960's or so. Would love to obtain photos of Scotts and related families as most were lost in the floods of 1999
