Henry Reed in the will of 1789 Guilford County, North Carolina:
This is my research. I'd sure like to find someone descended from Henry &
Agnes (Bell) Reed. Cecy Rice

Henry Reed
b. in Ireland (source: "U.S. Biographical Dictionary of Missouri, 1878");
d. about August 1789 in Guilford Co. NC [source:will])
married Agnes BELL 26 Dec 1766 Rowan Co, NC (this from a marriage record;
Guilford was formed from Rowan in 1771)

Henry Reed names his wife as Agnes,1789, in his will.
When Agnes died about 1800, a guardian, William DENNY, is appointed for
Henry's orphans and minor children who are named as: James, John,
Elizabeth, and Henry.

I believe that the John named is my great great grandfather John Denny Reed
born 1784 in Guilford Co, NC. John D. Reed named his children Henry,
Thomas, James, John, Elizabeth, Menerva, Nancy and Martha. (I think Thomas
is Agnes Bell Reed's father's name). One problem for me is, why didn't John
Denny Reed name a child after his mother Agnes(if this is his mother).

From a biography written by and about my great grandfather Thomas Black
Reed in "U.S. Biographical Dictionary of Missouri, 1878" (edited by me), he
names his father as John Denny Reed born in Guilford County, North
Carolina, who fought in the 1812 War, who married Elizabeth Jenkins in
Guilford County in 1816, came to Missouri in about 1819 to claim a military
land grant he received for fighting in the 1812 War; and his grandfather as
Henry Reed, who fought in the Revolutionary War in Guilford County,
according to Thomas B. Reed, his grandson. Henry's name may have been
spelled Reid or Read(John Denny Reed spelled it REED). Henry was born in
Ireland, came to South Carolina but moved to Guilford County, North
Carolina before the Revolutionary War. (all this in the biography).
