Subject: WILLIAM WILSON - LETTER 1853
Date: Thu, 25 Aug 2005 08:18:02 -0400
The most recent issue of the Guilford Gen. Journal (Summer 2005) shows a
listing of unclaimed letters being held at the post office. One of the
letters is addressed to a WILLIAM WILSON (newspaper notice 2 April 1853).
Apparently these letters have been held for some period for them to be
listed in the Guilford Co. newspaper. Earlier (in Feb. 1853) other
Wilson letters had been held--for a SAMUEL WILSON and a MARY J. WILSON.
I believe these ads for the pickup of their mail is the last call before
the letters are placed in the dead letter box. It does certain suggest
the addressees are out of town, perhaps have been for some time.
Is anyone researching the Wilson family of Guilford Co., NC?
My WILLIAM M.WILSON (b. 1821-22)was in Rowan Co. NC, beginning with the
1850 census,dying in 1864 (non-war causes). In the 1850 census he is
shown as age 29, living in the Shaver hotel (suggesting he is a
non-resident), and his occupation is silversmith.
