This is research that I am doing for my future mother in law, and to tell you the truth, I've been doing genealogy for nearly 20 years now and have NEVER run into the problems that I have with these families.
Generation No. 1

Family lore has it that Mattie MCFEE gave birth to another child 3 years before she married PARLEY RICHMOND HEMPHILL who adopted the younger child (JAMES HOWARD HEMPHILL), but did not adopt RAY ARTHUR PARKER. It is also been mentioned that the Hemphill child and the Parker child are full-blooded brothers. Also, family lore has it that these families were either partially or full blooded Cherokee Indian.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. MIL and I are planning a trip to Haywood County, NC in the spring so we don't take the chances of hitting a snow-storm while we are there, but I would like to have more information than what I have before the trip is made.

When my grandson asked me how old I was, I teasingly replied "I'm not sure." "Look in your underwear, Grandma," he advised."Mine says I'm four."
