Please keep this discussion on the list. I have ancestors at Old Field,
Cullowhee, and Addie, as well as
other Jackson County cemeteries.
I'm descended from the Claytons buried at Addie. I contacted the Baptist
Church (now Buff Creek) that
owns the cemetery, and got word back that I'm welcome to work on
maintaining the enclosure around
those Clayton graves. (I'm a gggdaughter of Mary Ann Cogdill and William A.
Clayton.)
My last ancestors to actually live in Jackson County were my Snyder
greatgrandparents, who left
in the early 1900s, when my ggrandfather Snyder got a job with the railroad
and moved to
Henderson County. My paternal grandmother, their daughter Virginia, died
when I was a baby,
and her father died when I was 8.
