In 1791, David Rainer of Sampson County, NC purchased land in Johnston County, NC:
In the fork of Black Mingo Swamp and Dismal Creek . . . Beginning at a white oak on Dismal Creek, . . . down the meander of [Mingo] . . . swamp with Cumberland line to the mouth of Dismal Creek, thence up the meander of Dismal Creek with Sampson line to the Beginning.

David married first Sarah Jarvis and second to Amy, possibly Eldridge. Samuel Eldridge may have been her father. Some of the 11 children of David Rainer settled in Johnston County, possibly on the land David purchased. William David Rayner, my gggrandfather, lived in Johnston County with his wife Susan Thornton in 1850 and appears on the Census, no children yet. I believe William David is the grandson of David Rainer, but do not know which son of David's would have been his father; have assumed it may be William.

Owen and Eldridge Thornton also resided in Johnston County and one may be father to Susan Thornton.

Amy's family, who I feel certain were Eldridges, may also have resided in Johnston County. David Rainer's dau Elizabeth Rainer married John Eldridge and a Lovitte Eldridge is mentioned in a court document with Amy and David, Owen Thornton and the dec'd Green Wood, son-in-law to David Rainer (He married David's dau Pearcy Rainer). Who are Lovitte and John Eldridge? Is Lovitte a mistaken spelling for Loverd? Who were their Eldridge parents? Is there any info on Loverd, who was a member of the Johnston County Council and who married John Lacy Ellis.

William David Rayner and Susan Thornton had only one son, Franklin Marion Rayner. Frank married Ellen Westrook of Wayne County NC. These are my great Grandparents. Westbrooks of Wayne, Sampson and Johnston counties are related.

Frank's Grandson, my uncle Archie Raynor married Emma "Adell" Harrell. Her father was Willie Harrell of Wayne County, NC, her mother Emma Warrick, Willie's third wife. I am searching for info on the parents of both Emma Warrick and Willie Harrell. Who was his father? Was he related to the Harrells of Johnston County?
Any help from any source will be appreciated.
