I have a relative from Lee Co., NC named TOMMIE HAYES McDUFFIE. He probably lived in Pocket Twnshp. in 1940. His father was Geo. Henry McDuffie. Tommie joined the US Navy and served in WW II. He left the service and settled in the New York City area and worked with the city bridge maintenance dept. (I think). He married and had three children. He still has realtives in this area (Sanford, Lee Co., NC). He was apparently deceased by 1999. He was born Dec. 20, 1921 here. Let me know if I can be of further help. I discovered him and his family doing research for my family.
