Anyone having information or researching Robert HELTON born abt. 1783, VA, please contact me. Robert Helton married Nancy A. ELMORE abt. 1800-1803, b. Feb 12, 1784, daughter of William ELMORE 1759-1836 Hillsborough, Orange Co., NC and Mary Rippy daughter of Edward Ross RIPPY Sr., born 1729-1734 in Dublin Ireland. They lived in Lincoln Co., NC moving to Tennessee 1819. Nancy returned to Lincoln Co., NC in the late 1820's or early 1830's without her husband and brought most of her children back with her. Nancy A. ELMORE died Apr 11, 1848, age 64. She is buried at Laboratory Methodist Church Cemetery near Lincolnton, Lincoln Co., NC. At least 3 or 4 children stayed in Tennessee, apparently with their father. Robert HELTON died aft. 1850 Sevier Co., TN. It is said that Robert, and then his sons, worked at the foundry in Pigeon Forge, Sevier Co., TN. According to family tradition Robert descends from the (Peter or Abraham) HELTON family of Orange Co., NC. I believe their c!

Robert was a mechanic, in what is known as the old Laboratory Mill. Moved in 1842 and opened a blacksmith shop and also farmed.
