Hi Craig,

My information comes on Benjamin CARPENTER and Jane JOHNSON comes from the
1850 and 1860 Macon Co, NC census. If you have already looked at the 1870
for Macon you might try the 1870 for Jackson. I do not know what part of
the county they were in but it is quite possible that they moved a short
distance and ended up in a surrounding county. Good luck on the search and
let me know if you find them.
