MR. JIM PORTER returned from Transylvania county last Sunday where he had been spending the week with MR. C.D. BOWER. He reports that MR. BOWERS is recovering from his severe attact of sickness, and that he will soon be able to come to Franklin. This will be gratifying news to his many friends in this section. DR. JOHN MOORE also returned with him

REV. R.S. SAUNDERS has been conducting a meeting on Betty's Creek for the past few days, resulting in five professions, and several penitants.
MRS. JOHN YORK was bitten by a rattlesnake last Tuesday, and has been dangerously ill ever since.
NR, A,A, DARNELL took one gallon of honey from one swarm of bees, the product of one weeks work.
REV. S.H. HARRINGTON filled his place in the Baptist church Sunday, and five were added to the church, and baptised by REV. R.S. SAUNDERS.
MR. JOHN F. RITCHIE is having a fine school at Rabun Gap Institute, numbering about 90 pupils. He is assisted by MISS EMILIA CURTIS, and the patrons seem to be well pleased.
MR and MRS. I.M. POWELL have gone to the mines in Cattooga Valley to stay awhile.
MISS BESSIE SELLERS has been spending a few days in our community.
MR. W.R. DILLINGHAM, of Anderson, SC has been visiting his relations and many friends the past week.
