Jacqueline McCracken Kanipe, 93, of 101 Lions Way, Black Mountain, died
Wednesday, January 24, 2001, in Memorial Mission Hospital. Born in Macon
County to the late Philetus and Rowena Gunter McCracken she was a retired
employee of Beacon Mfg. Co. in Swannonoa and member of Broad River Baptist
Church. She was the wife of the late Clarence Kanipe. In addition to her
parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Clifton Kanipe.
Surviving are one brother, Hiram McCracken and wife, Lucetta of Black Mountain;
two granddaughters: Sandra K. Kessler and Sharon K. Dearmon, both of Winston-Salem,
NC; three great gandchildren and five nieces and nephews. Funeral services
were held at 2 pm Saturday, January 27, 2001 at Broad River Baptist Church.
The Rev. Joe George and Rev. Randy Stone officiated and burial followed
in the church cemetery. The family received friends Friday from 6-8 at
the Old Fort Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home. Kirksey Funeral Home assisted
the family.
