Myrtle Harklerode Fender, 91, of Marion, died Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at her residence. Born in Madison County to the late James Riley Harklerode and Bessie Freshour Harklerode Lamb, she was a homemaker and a lifetime member of Clinchfield United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Otis R. Fender, who died in 1976, and four brothers: Earnest, Harry, Herman and Sam Lamb.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Fender Allison and her husband, Floyd, of Marion; and her son, Dean Fender and his wife, Ruby, of Sharon, SC; eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 am on Friday, August 3, 2001 at Westmoreland Chapel. The Rev. Ray Davis and Mr. Butch Hogan officiated and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Westmoreland Funeral Home assisted the family.
