Thomas Jefferson Jenkins, age 87, of Marion, died Sunday, August 5, 2001 in Asheville Health Care. Born in Rutherford County to the late Henry and Lela Carson Jenkins he was a retired employee of East Tennessee Mental Health Care Center. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Celestine Jenkins and Alene Goode.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Jackson Jenkins; one son, R. Thomas Jenkins and wife, Ruth; two daughters, Lucille Rutherford and husband, Dan, Elizabeth Siler and husband Derrick all of Marion; one sister, Elizabeth Dover of Knoxville, TN; 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a special friend, James Lindsey.
Memorial services were held at 11 o’clock Thursday, August 9, 2001 in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home. Rev. James E. Williams officiated.
