Stephen W. Keeter, 58, of Marion, died Monday, September 10, 2001, at Mission St. Joseph’s Hospital in Asheville. Born in McDowell County, on December 4, 1942, to Ruby Louise Queen Keeter, of Marion, and the late James Lloyd Keeter, he was the owner and operator of Keeter Automotive for over 30 years. He attended Story Memorial Presbyterian Church and was a veteran of the National Guard. He is preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Allison Keeter.
Survivors, other than his mother, include his aunt, Ruth Anderson, of Marion, and several other family members.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm, Thursday, September 13, 2001 at Westmoreland Chapel. The Rev. Calvin Jett and Rev. Bill Dages officiated and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Story Memorial Presbyterian Church 174 Shady Lane Marion, NC 28752 or the Humane Society 2638-A Hwy 70 West c/o Teresa Parkins Marion, NC 28752. Westmoreland Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
