Woodrow Wilson Stafford, 84, of Marion, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at his residence. Born to the late Margaret Ann Stafford, he was retired from Burlington Industries after 52 years of service. He was a lifetime member and one of the founders of Clinchfield Presbyterian Church. He was a deacon and former Sunday School Superintendent and very active in his church.
Surviving is his wife, Ruby Ferguson Stafford; two sons: Baxter Woodrow Stafford and his wife, Grace, and Thomas “Tommy” Stafford and his wife, Brenda, all of Marion; a daughter, Rachel Adams, of Hendersonville, NC; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm on Friday, July 28, 2000 at Westmoreland Chapel. The Rev. Laura Long officiated and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Westmoreland Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Clinchfield Presbyterian Church 7th St., Clfd. Marion, NC 28752. Westmoreland Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
