Charles Lee “Bill” Shehan, 76, of Marion, NC, died Saturday, July 29, 2000 in Memorial Mission Hospital. Born in McDowell County to the late Fate Arrow Shehan and Louemer Lamb Shehan Finley, he was retired from Galey & Lord. He was a member of Bethel Freewill Baptist Church where he served as an usher.
Surviving is his wife, Margaret Smith Shehan; two sons: Charles Lee Shehan, Jr. of Maiden, NC, and James “Jim” Shehan of Marion; four daughters: Mrs. Barry Bohon “Cooky” of Florence, SC, Mrs. Paul Holden “Barbara” of Spruce Pine, NC, Mrs. Earl Robinson “Linda” and Elizabeth Ferguson both of Nebo; one sister, Coleen Davis of Marion; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm Tuesday, August 1, 2000 in Bethel Freewill Baptist Church. The Rev. Ray Stockton officiated and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park. The family received friends Monday from 7-9 pm at Kirksey Funeral Home where the body remained until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Kirksey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
