Winston Worley, 88, of Marion, died Tuesday, September 25, 2001 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center. Born May 12, 1913, in Madison County, to the late Henry and Sylvania Butner Worley, he was retired from both Drexel Heritage and Marimont Furniture Companies. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he was a former Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher for over 30 years. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Robin Worley and a sister, Myrtle Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Kent Worley; two daughters: Barbara Worley Holland and husband, Franklin, of Marion and Deborah Worley Burleson and husband, Ray, of Spruce Pine; three sons: David Worley and wife, Amy, John Worley and wife, Nancy, all of Marion, and Charles Worley and wife, Gayree of Morganton; two sisters: Nan and Mae Wright, both of Marion; three brothers: Burder, Alton and Vernon Worley, all of Marion; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Thursday, September 27, 2001 at Zion Hill Baptist Church. The Revs. Leo Kuykendall, Dr. Tom Walker and Dean Gurley will officiate and burial will be in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial donations may be made to Patient Care Fund c/o Mountain Ridge Wellness Center PO Box 100 Ridgecrest, NC 28770. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
