Martha Edwards Lefler, 88, of Marion, died Monday, July 24, 2000. Born in McDowell County to the late Charlie and Lillie Byrd King, she was a homemaker and a member of Conley Memorial Presbyterian Church. Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her two husbands, Carl Edwards and Bill Lefler; also two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are two sons: Jack Edwards of Marion and Max Edwards of Calabash, NC; two sisters, Maggie Washburn, of Marion and Helen King Self of Hickory; two brothers, Earl and Carl King, both of Hickory; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 26, 2000 at Conley Memorial Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Johnny Johnson will officiate and burial will be in the Green Mountain Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of McDowell County 116 N Logan Street Marion, NC 28752 or Conley Memorial Presbyterian Church c/o Clara McCall Rt. 3, Box 432 Marion, NC 28752. Westmoreland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
