Thelma Souther Sain, 91, formerly of Greenville, widow of the late Ray K. Sain, died September 27 at the National Lutheran Home in Rockville, MD. Born in Old Fort, NC, she was a graduate of Old Fort High School and attended nursing school in Charlotte, NC. She was a homemaker and mother, and enjoyed gardening as a hobby. She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church of Greenville.
Surviving is one daughter, Nancy S. Doe and her husband, Grant of Arlington, VA, one son, James R. Sain and wife, Pamela of Marion, NC, one grandson, Grant P. Doe of Arlington, VA and two sisters, Nell Settlemyre and Maxine Robinson of Old Fort, NC. She was predeceased by her parents, four sisters, and three brothers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Lutheran Home, 9701 Veirs Drive, Rockville, MD 20850 301-424-9560.
The family will receive friends October 4, beginning at 9:30 a.m., at the Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, 639 North Main Street, Greenville. The service will be conducted in the McAfee Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Thomas McAfee Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
