Richard L. Reel, age 72, of Marion, died on June 26, 2000 at his residence. Born in McDowell County to the late Moses and Jessie Morgan Reel he was retired from Burlington Industries and was currently employed at Ingle’s Supermarket in Black Mountain and a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Barlowe Reel; a daughter, Patsy Ellis and husband, Wayne of Marion; two sons, Ricky Reel and wife, Teresa and Craig Reel and wife, Christina all of Marion; a sister, Eunice Bradford of Marion; five grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2000 at Zion Hill Baptist Church. Rev Dr. Tom Walker and Rev. Leo Kuykendall will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2000 at Westmoreland Funeral Home.
