Ruth Roland Greene, 76, of Marion, died Monday, October 15, 2001 at her residence. Born February 16, 1925, in McDowell County to the late Raymond and Ethel McMahan Roland, she was a homemaker and member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Greene.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Stone, of Asheville, NC; a son, Mike Greene, of Charlotte, NC; two sisters: Betty Lands and Ellie Queen, both of Shelby, NC; two brothers: Bill and George Roland, both of Marion; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 pm on Wednesday, October 17, 2001 at Cross Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Doug Prevette officiated and burial was in McDowell Memorial Park. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Cross Memorial Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society Suite 100 Building C 31 College Place Asheville, NC 28801. Westmoreland Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
