Don Ray “Donald” Stamey, 51, of Nebo, died Monday, October 15, 2001 at his residence. Born November 16, 1949, in Avery County to the late Floyd McDonald and Lora Miller Stamey, he was a carpenter.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Mace, of Nebo; a brother, Bennie Stamey, of Nebo; two sisters: Mae Swafford and Carol Lister, both of Nebo; three grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 am on Thursday, October 18, 2001 at Westmoreland Chapel. The Revs. Ray Stockton and Gary Branch officiated and burial was in Old Nebo Cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of McDowell County 218 Logan St. Marion, NC 28752. Westmoreland Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
