Max Grant Hunt, 66, of One Adams Drive, died Friday, November 2, 2001 at the Elizabeth House Hospice Four Seasons in Hendersonville.
A native of Old Fort, he retired from People’s Security Insurance Co. in 1992 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Old Fort and a member of Black Mountain Masonic Lodge #663.
He was the son of the late Max Johnson and Myrtle Grant Hunt. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert L. Hunt.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathy Hunt; daughter, Liza Hensley and her husband, Gary, of Marion; son, Michael Hunt and his wife, Judy, of Fletcher; granddaughters, Whitney Hensley, Carly Hensley and Lauren Hunt; grandson, Grant Redman Hunt; sister-in-law, Irma Hunt of Old Fort; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Robert and Carolyn Clark of Atlanta and Garry and Sharon Snook of Aspen, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance was held at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Brigman’s Funeral Service in Black Mountain and the Rev. Pete Banyai officiated. The family received friends following the service. Burial was at the Western Carolina State Veteran’s Cemetery at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 7, 2001. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hospice of McDowell County, 218 Logan Street, Marion, NC 28752 or the First United Methodist Church of Old Fort, Catawba Avenue, Old Fort, NC 28762.
