Lee Roy Donnahue, age 97, of Greensboro, formerly of Marion, died Sunday, November 11, 2001 at Autumn Care of Marion. Born in Landrum, SC, he was a son of the late D. P. Donnahue and Frances Greene Donnahue.
Early in his career he was employed in the textile and furniture industries in Marion. Upon moving to Greensboro he became a local businessman in the blade sharpening business.
Surviving are his wife, Ella Scarboro Donnahue of the home; a daughter, Lorene D. Farr and her husband Donald of Marion; a son, Charles Lee Donnahue and his wife Cynthia of Elon College; two stepdaughters, Jane A. Caruso and her husband Lenny of New Orleans, LA and Margaret T. Sporar and her husband Marty of Jacksonville, FL; five grandchildren, Susan Farr, Johnathan Thomasson, Sr., Mark Thomasson, Michael Jones, and Marjorie Jones; and three great grandchildren, Jonathan Thomasson, Jr., Meagan Thomasson, and Henry Zane Long.
Graveside rites will be conducted on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at 10:30 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Hendersonville with Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Glenwood Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 218, Glenwood, NC 28737. Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family.
