Priscilla “Penny” Price Shell, age 34, of North Center Street, Hickory, NC died Friday, April 28, 2000 as a result of an airplane accident. Her husband, Dr. Keith E. Shell, also died in the accident. Born in McDowell County, NC, on March 29, 1966, she was the daughter of Dennis M. Price and his wife, Sue Greene Price, of Middleburg, FL and Priscilla Price Owenby and her husband, Jack, of Marion, NC. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Hugh Price and Ruth Condrey. Mrs. Shell was a graduate of McDowell High School and earned a dental hygienist degree from Asheville-Buncombe Community College. She was employed with the dental practice of Drs. Sudderth, Beeson and Link. Mrs. Shell was a member of the N. C. Dental Hygienist Association. She and her husband, Keith, attended First Methodist Church, Morganton.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are sons, Trey Young and Taylor Young, both of the home; stepdaughter, Lauren Christina Shell of Greensboro, NC; brother, Patrick M. Price and his wife, Carrie, of Marion; sister, Pam Price Sprinkle and her husband, Darryl of Taylors, SC; her grandmother, Georgia Price of Marion; stepbrothers, Jimmy Owenby and Keith Owenby, all of Marion; three nephews; and one niece.
Memorial services for Mrs. Shell and her husband, Keith, were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at First United Methodist Church, Morganton. Rev. Dr. Robert Davis officiated. The family received friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. At other times, the family was at the residence of Jack and Priscilla Owenby, Mackey Farm Drive, Marion, NC and at John and Gertrude Shell, 103 Hillside Lane, Morganton. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Clinic, for development of dental services, PO Box 3601 Morganton, NC 28680. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
