Bernice “Buster” Stevens Fox, 87, of Old Fort, died Thursday, January 24, 2002 at Asheville Healthcare. Born August 18, 1914 in Buncombe County, NC, to the late Roy and Sudie Hensley Stevens, she was a retired nurse from Marion General Hospital where she was known as “Stevie” and she attended Living Waters Tabernacle for over 40 years. She was a very loving and caring person. Her hobbies included fishing and sightseeing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry “Buddy” Fox; three sisters: Texie Stevens, Bulah Robertson & Mildred Moore.
Survivors include her caregiver, Gayle Stevens Bishop, of Old Fort; two brothers: Ray and Carroll Stevens, both of Old Fort; three sisters: Betty Lunsford, Faye Lovyne Burgin and Devue Stevens, all of Old Fort.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Sunday, January 27, 2002 at Living Waters Tabernacle. The Revs. Ken Massingill and Tommy Wright officiated and burial was in Cherry Springs Memorial Park. The family received friends from 5-7 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Meals on Wheels Box 338 Marion, NC. Westmoreland Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
