Mr. David Frank Tilson, age 73 of Nebo passed away Wednesday November 8, 2006 at The McDowell Hospital. David was born in Yancey County on April 29, 1933 and was a son of the late Samuel E. Tilson and Dell Robertson Tilson. He was a member and Deacon at Glenwood Baptist Church. David was a retired business owner. His family will remember him as a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Mary Raines Tilson of the home; three children: Sharon Warren and husband Bill of Nebo, Rebecca Vogt and husband Thomas of Pennsylvania and Ruthe Guffey and husband John of Marion; one sister Mabel Banks of Black Mountain; one brother John Tilson of Old Fort; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Saturday November 11, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. The family received friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the church. Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenwood Baptist Church Building Fund 1089 US 221 South Marion, NC 28752. Westmoreland Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. An online register is available under OBITUARIES at www.westmorelandfuneralhome.com.
