There were three unrelated (as far as I know) ROBERT COCHRAN families in =
the Mecklenburg Co. area in the late 1700s. One was in Mecklenburg Co., =
one in what became Cabarrus Co., and one in Rowan Co..
ROBERT COCHRAN #1 (This number is only used to separate families) was b =
5-25-1725, m MARTHA ______ 7-23-1751, d prior to 11-17-1789 (date of =
will) in Mecklenburg Co. They had 6 children:
1. WILLIAM COCHRAN - b 5-25-1753; m MARGERY MC GINNIS in PA; d =
10-2-1829; buried in Spears Cemetery of Rocky River Presbyterian Church. =
Some offspring married children of ROBERT COCHRAN #3.
2. JOHN COCHRAN - b 1-30-1755; d 1-22-1818.
3. JENNET COCHRAN - b 7-23-1758 [Somebody on the list was =
inquiring about a JENNET].
4. SARAH COCHRAN - b 3-10-1761; m ______WHITE, d 6-14-1818.
5. ROBERT COCHRAN JR. - b 6-21-1764; m ANN COCHRAN, dau of =
ROBERT COCHRAN #3) 3-4-1797 in Cabarrus Co,, NC; d 4-20-1822 in Cabarrus =
Co.; buried in Spears Cemetery. The issue of this marriage was given in =
a previous post.
6. MARTHA COCHRAN - b 5-17-1768.
This information from Mary Tallent Cochrane.
The will of ROBERT COCHRAN #2 of Rowan Co. was made 5-26-1806. It named =
his wife, MARGARET; sons JOSEPH, JOHN, and ROBERT JR.; daughter JEAN; =
grand-daughter, POLLY MC EWEN; grandson ROBERT (son of ROBERT); and =
WILLIAM WOODSIDE. His son ROBERT JR. m JANE JAMISON 4-1-1796 in Rowan =
Co.; his son JOSEPH made a will 6-11-1808 naming his wife, ELIZABETH; =
daughters POLLY and ELLY; and son ROBERT NATHAN
ROBERT COCHRAN #3, b 1739, and family was detailed in a previous =
message.
