This will recorded at Mecklenburg County Courthouse, Book G, page 236
State of North Carolina
Mecklenburg County, NC
That I, Godfrey Williamson of the aforesaid County and State , with a sound
mind and good memory do publish this my last will and testament.
First, I give my son Washington to hold forever my negro boy Pete and negro
girl Jinny. And I further direct that negro girl Mace, child Mary and girl
Sarah shall go to the heris of my daughter Susan, the wife of Norwood. I
also direct that the girls Eva, Nancy and Linda shall go the heirs of Kissa
McCoy, my daughter. I also direct that Dennis and his wife Litta, and her
children Lucy, Emelia and Green shall go to my daughter Sally, subject to my
wife's lifetime, that is. they are to be our property, and for the support
of both so long as her mother lives. I also direct that Woodly and Sarah,
the youngest girl Sarah, to go to my youngest son, Vincent Young forever. I
also direct that my son William shall have Ben, Arch and Melinda to hold
forever at my death and I shall further direct that my son David shall have
Harriet, Ester, and Linda at my death. I also direct that the plantation
which I now live on shall belong to my daughter Sally as long as she remains
unmarried and su!
bject to my wife's dower, and the remainder over to my son David and his
heirs, except the half of the meadow beginning at the spring and running to
a sweet gum tree on the creek. the eastern part of which I will to
Washington and Vincent for their life time. I will to my daughter Polly
Rodden $100.00 and I will Betsy Rodden $100.00. I will to the heirs of my
son, John, deceased, the two negro girls Clary and Lucy which I have already
given to the said John. I appoint William Williamson. my son, and William
Jamison as Executors. I authorize the said executors to sell all the
purchaseable property except the household and kitchen furniture, two horses
of choice, ten hogs, ten sheep and four cows which I give to my wife for
life. The proceeds equally divided after the $200.00 is paid to Polly
Rodden and Betsy Rodden, and debts and expenses paid.
