I grew up about three miles from Stonewall Jackson School, which is located in
what is now Concord (used to be "West Concord"). It's still nominally in
operation, I believe. As someone else said, "Jackson" is where our parents
always threatened to send us with if we didn't behave!

Rode by there again a few weeks ago. It's a fascinating old place. Many of the
buildings are now in bad condition, but several are also on the National
Register of Historic Places. Lots of rock outcroppings and old brick Georgian
buildings - and a very old chapel. From Charlotte, take NC 49 east, about five
miles east of Harrisburg turn left at stoplight on Old Charlotte Road and its
right there on the left. Sits atop a ridge with quite a view to west of
Charlotte. I suspect the new Cabarrus Heritage Book might have something on it
(don't have my copy with me).
