Greetings,
Have noticed that a lot of good information is circulating on the e-mail
list. And, I'm encouraged that folks are finding the features of the
Mecklenburg NCGenWeb Page useful. However, many of the e-mail postings may
be more useful to everyone when posted to another feature as well.
The intent of the e-mail lists, queries, and forums is to assist reseachers
in the free sharing of genealogy information. Each has a specific purpose:
E-mail lists (NCMECKLE-L) Intended for general interest news
messages to subscribers such as pertinent websites, family reunion notices,
where to find records, sharing research notes with list subscibers, etc...
notices of interest to the genealogy public specific to Mecklenburg County.
E-mail messages are not saved and are available only to the recipient(s)!
The Queries board is intended to allow anyone to post specific questions
and answers about Mecklenburg County family history. Postings are intended
to be specific to Mecklenburg County and are best posted under a Surname(s).
All queries posted are available to anyone and remain on the "board" for a
year or more.
We currently have six forums on the Mecklenburg page. The forums are
intended to let folks post information within the forum topic. Postings
should be of facts and findings within the forum topic and not questions.
Forum postings remain on the "boards" for a year or more.
A lot of good information has been posted through e-mail of late. Please
consider also posting the e-mails to the applicable forum "boards".
For those who have not visited the Mecklenburg main page lately and are
using "bookmarks" to access the e-mail, queries, and forums, I urge you to
take a look at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ncmeckle. Your comments are
appreciated.
Regards,
Paul Buckley,
Mecklenburg County USGenWeb Coordinator
