US Highway 29 north of Charlotte used to be referred to as the Salisbury
Road because it was the road one would take from Charlotte north to the town
of Salisbury. I-85 follows the same general route, except that Hwy 29
actually goes through central Charlotte while I-85 bypasses.

Some of my ORR ancestors, who lived in Mallard Creek township, lived along
"The Salisbury Road."

I have a map of townships in Mecklenburg County at this address:

Derita is another neighborhood referred to many times - it is between Long
Creek and Mallard Creek.

Hwy 21 north of Charlotte is known as Statesville Road (destination
Statesville in Iredell Co.)
Hwy 24/27 east of Charlotte is known as Albemarle Road (destination
Albemarle in Stanly County)
Old Hwy 74 east of Charlotte is known as Monroe Road (destination Monroe in
Union County.)
Hwy 49 south is known as York Road (destination York, SC)
and so on

Tyvola Road is in Sharon Township.
