Dear Ann,

I was looking through an old Journal of the Guilford Gen. Society (Summer
of 1999) and saw your query on the parents of WILLIAM NELSON WALL (b. ca
1832, d. 1899) who was buried in the Centre Friends Meeting, Guilford Co.
He married MALINDA SHELLEY in 1860 (also buried at the Centre Friends
Meeting in Guilford)

His name caught my eye as one I have run across in my PACE research.
Though not in my direct line, a DAVID PACE married KITTY WALL on 7 March
1810 in Wake Co. NC. The bondsman was NELSON WALL. I have been told
that often the bondsman was a relative of the bride in these early
marriages. I ran across this marriage because at one time I thought this
DAVID PACE was directly linked to me.

Another connection, more direct to my line. A brother of my ABNER PACE
(b.1821) was YOUNG PACE. Both were sons of ZILPHA PACE (B.1798-1800),
and both were "orphan apprentices" in Guilford Co., NC, Abner in 1837 and
Young in 1847. YOUNG PACE (b.about 1834Guilford) went to Mecklenburg
Co., NC and there he married NANCY WALLS on 22 Jan. 1858 The bondsman
was William M (something, signed by X). I have often thought that
perhaps Nancy Walls was actually from Guilford Co. also but no proof.
Their children were Charles, Abner, Mary, Augustus, and Fanny, snf
possibly a John.

A copy of this is going to the Mecklenburg-L and Guilford-L mailing
lists. I know there are Wall/Walls researchers there who perhaps you
have not contacted.
