Mary Adelaide Polk (b. 1820), a daughter of Gen. Thomas Gilchrist Polk, married George Davis on 17 Nov 1842. During the Civil War, he moved her back from Wilmington, NC to Mecklenburg County to be near her relatives. My information says she died on 27 Sep 1863, but I cannot find her burial site. There is no reference to her death in the North Carolina newspapers that I can find. I think she died and is buried in Mecklenburg County, probably in a family plot. Does anyone have information concerning this?
