Why the listowner would follow up his out-of-line (out of ignorance)
accusation with a gratuitous insult is beyond me. Paul has not corresponded
with me directly, just posted these ignorant messages to the whole list. So
I'll reply here - and unsubscribe. The list members have been great and I
appreciate the kind help I've received. I had hoped to start discussing the
Robinson line now but the message below has disgusted me. I'll be glad to
keep hearing from correspondents privately and welcome opportunities to
reciprocate assistance.

Subject: [NCMECKLE-L] From List Dad in Charlotte

Dear List,

Aside from Pat wanting to rip off a bunch of us old folks here in
Mecklenburg county lately, there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity on our
list. Sometimes makes me wonder why I bother to maintain it.

Did want to remind y'all of a few goings on here that you may find of
interest.

For NASCAR fans, Jeff Gordon is apparently getting a divorce.

If anyone is interested anymore, the Hornets are probably moving to N'awlins
for swatting. George Washington didn't have any success at getting rid of
them and apparently never tried crawfish bait.

We finally have a group of folks working on a "Mecklenburg Heritage Book".
Typical of our "hornet's nest" mentality, it is having a hard time getting
started. Please. If you want this project to succeed, contact Sheila
Weaver at or Don & Becky Mills at
. The project needs contributors of family
history, editors, and promoters.

The Charlotte area, as you know, is comprised of several counties each
having a number of Genealogical and Historical Societies vigorously
campaigning for members. Central is the Olde Mecklenburg Genealogical
Society. I urge y'all to take a look at the "Local Resource" section of our
main page at www.rootsweb.com/~ncmeckle and become a member of any of the
societies that you may find helpful to your particular interests here.

>From private emails, some of the surnames actively researched here include,
to name a few: Alexander(naturally), Black, Brown, Cunningham, Grier,
Herron, Odom, Orr, Weddington, etc. Lastly, I have accumulated about a
thousand pages of notes to put into a "Mecklenburg County Genealogy Resource
Guide" that I am desperately trying to edit and organize into a reasonable
publication. My intent is to place as much of the guide as RootsWeb permits
on the main page and put the printed book on the market. Printer estimates
so far place the cost at about 20.00 per copy that is way more than I can
afford. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for using the list.

Regards,

Paul Buckley,
NCMECKLE List Dad
