I am interested in...research on Aaron McWhorter... who died in Lincoln Co.
TN in 1837...and his father, Henry (of Mecklenburg Co., NC).
There were several McWhorter families in Mecklenburg Co., NC, but I do not
find an Aaron as a son of Henry.
There was a Henry Marlin McWhorter whose will was probated in 1830 in
Mecklenburg Co., and who had no children. He was a son of Aaron McWhorter,
who settled on the southside of Finley Cr., and his will was probated 1799
naming his wife, Fanny, sons: Moses & Henry Marlin; daughters: Jennet, Fanny
& Keziah.
There is also found an Aaron McWhorter, the son of George McWhorter and his
wife, Elizabeth. They also had sons: Moses, George, James & John and
daughters: Elizabeth, Rose & Agness. The will of Aaron McWhorter was
probated in 1806, in which in left his plantation (farm) to son Aaron.
Geoge McWhorter's land was on Waxaw Creek, east of the Catawba River, in the
extreme southern portion of eary Mecklenburg Co., NC.
In the 1790 US Census of Mecklenburg Co., NC there is found an Aaron
McWhorter with a female head of house, one male child and three female
children.
The Rev. (Dr) Alexander McWhorter, of Maryland, was a president of Queen's
Museum (school) in Charlotte and helped organize the Steele Creek
Presbyerian Church.
I would not discount Virginia, Pennsylvania or Maryland as possible origins
of migration for these families.
