Ezekiel ALEXANDER, b. ca 1778 in North Carolina (probably Mecklenburg),d.
May of 1850 in Hardin, TN, m. Martha Patsey ROBINSON 1806 in Mecklenburg,
NC. I do not know Ezekiel's parents.

=== James Alexander, of Elkton (Cecil Co., MD) left his will there in 1772,
and which was proved in 15 July 1779, the year of his death.

His second wife, Abigail, and all his children from his first and second
marriage are named in the will. Among the children listed was Ezekiel
Alexander (by first wife), and a second Ezekiel Alexander listed later (by
second wife). The will shows that James Alexander did acquire lands in
Mecklenburg Co., NC, and at the time of the will, the children were living
in Mecklenburg Co., NC. There were also two Margarets listed among the
children, and would appear that the first Ezekiel and Margaret were deceased
at the time of birth of the second Ezekiel and Margaret by the second wife.

One of the brothers was John McKnitt Alexander, apparently from the first
marraige with Margaret McKnight, a daughter of John McKnight of Cecil Co.,
MD.

I have not study the Alexander families, but it looks like from Worth's work
that James Alexander was a son of Joseph Alexander, a tanner, of New Muster,
Cecil Co., MD. You need to get "Mecklenburg Signers And Their Neighbors" by
Worth S. Ray. This is a reprint with a "surname only" index added later -
no given names, and the reprint is not easily read (see pp520-521,etc).
Worth did a lot of original research on many of the early notable
Mecklenburg families, and left a genealogcial legacy for Mecklenburg Co., NC
equaled by known. (I would order a copy of the original will also - there's
a lot of work to be done on this reseasrch)

Worth also remarks that not all the Alexanders came from Cecil Co., MD;
others were from Somersset Co., on the Easter Shore of Maryland, and Worth
suspect they came from Accomac Co., VA.

Good Luck,
