There are lots of records for Davis families in Mecklenburg Co., NC, which includes a will dated in 1807 for George Davis, who named sons: James C., Israel, Robert, William and John Davis. John Davis as exec. was probably the senior son. In 1802, James and John Davis purchased land on the Gum Branch of Long Creek from my ancestor, William Ramsey, with Wm. Ramsey there after removing to Rutherford Co., TN. Also, there were Davis families in Mecklenburg Co., VA, one of whom went to Granville Co., NC then to Davies Co. KY, from whom came my Davis line. Several Davis families also went to Rutherford Co., TN.
My secondary sources all come from published deed, will and court minute abstracts.
