I am looking for the rosters for the Sampson County Militia in the
Revolution, what districts were they drawn from. My fifthgreatgrandfather
James Oates was a member of this unit. According to a book by the late Mr. &
Mrs. Bizzell, it was commanded by a Captain John Armstrong. Jerome Tew
believes Armstrong did not command this militia unit. If not then who did?.
