Samuel Fleming Mckinney (born 1858) married Elizabeth (Bettie)
(Samuel Fleming Mckinney was the son of Charles Mckinney and Martha Patsy Hughes/grandson of Reuben Mckinney & Sarah Ledford Mckinney & Jeremiah Hughes and Elmira Hughes)


Samuel Fleming Mckinney and Elizabeth (Bettie) had the Following (3) Children:

1. Naomi Mckinney
B. 1875

2. Melissa Eleanor Mckinney
B. April 20, 1877/78 Mitchell North Carolina
D. July 17, 1936 Dawson county Georgia

3. Marcus D. Mckinney
Born 1878 Mitchell County North Carolina

Melissa Eleanor Mckinney married Mark Swinfield Stanley (son of Mary Jane Stanley and George (?) Burleson, grandson of Clayton Swinfield Stanley and Matilda Hopkins) on January 31, 1896 at the home of Clayton Hughes in Mitchell County North Carolina. After they were married they moved to Georgia and settled in Dawson County Georgia

Marcus D. Mckinney married Elmirah Hughes (daughter of Lemand Hughes and Melissa Hughes of Mitchell County, North Carolina) on January 10, 1898 in Mitchell County etc.

I am a descendant of Melissa Mckinney and Mark Swinfield Stanley. According to Melissa Mckinney's marriage license her mother was listed as Bettie Mckinney. However, according to her brother Marcus D. Mckinney's marriage license the mother is listed as Elizabeth Mckinney. It has been determined that Elizabeth and Bettie are the same woman. Their father was Samuel Fleming Mckinney (aka. Flem). Samuel Fleming Mckinney was the son of Charles Mckinney (b. 1837) and Martha Patsy Hughes (b. 1840 died May 21, 1916). I would like to know if Melissa and Marcus D. Mckinny's mother Elizabeth Bettie Mckinney's maiden name was really Mckinney or if the person (making the marriage certificate) just put her married name on the marriage license. I want to know who Elizabeth/Bettie Mckinney (?) parents and grandparents were. Also I would like to know the names of the children & grandchildren of Marcus D. Mckinney and Elimarah Hughes and who their children married etc. Also I would l!
ike to know when Marcus D. Mckinny died and where he is buried. Also I would like to know who (Lemand Hughes and Malissa Hughes,parents of Elmirah Hughes Mckinney) parents were. I would also like to know who Naomi Mckinney (Sister to Melissa Mckinney Stanley & Marcus D. Mckinney) married and who her children were. Any information relating to this family would be greatly appreciated.
