I am a professional storyteller and I have written a story about the Garland
family that lived there in the mid 1700s and moved to Ga. (Talitha Garland &
her father-in-law Rickles Stanley) They lived in Bad Creek, NC which I think is
in Mitchell Co... I was there last week and found Red Hill, Fork Mt and Tom
Creek. Can anyone tell me if Bad Creeks is near this area.
There has to be a story in how Bad Creek got it's name. Does anyone know?
I saw a few road signs that looked like a good story as well.... Rabbits Run &
Loafers Glory, where did their names come from.

I also tell a good story about Sam Brinkley, the school teacher with the
longest beard in history. I would welcome any information on his as well. I
would love to have a picture of the school he taught at - Spring Creek School.
