My wife and I are researching her family history in Jones and Onslow
counties.
>1. Cathy's maiden name is COLLINS. We go back to a William COLLINS (b.
>1803, White Oak Township, Jones County). He married a Nancy UNKNOWN. Any
>thoughts on how to go further back with William?
>2. There is a Josiah SMITH who is a third great grandfather of Cathy's.
>He had a plantation of sorts on White Oak River, Onslow County. He married
>Rachel Fields. Any thoughts on how to get more on him? There are some
>SMITHs in the 1790 census Fred Hintz indexed and some in Revolutionary War
>records.
>3. Josiah and Rachel had a son named Job SMITH (b. 1821). He married a
>Nancy WEEKS (b. 1828). We are told there is a WEEKS family graveyard in
>Bouge off of Hwy 24. There are some WEEKS in the 1790 census Fred Hintz
>indexed as well as some in Revolutionary War records.
>4. Other surnames of interest are BENDER and PARSONS.
>Look forward to hearing from you.
