If anyone ever comes up with any history on Henry Henderson I'd love to be
directed to it. I'll take any crumb of a lead. When I went to Salt Lake
City and spent the better portion of two days looking for him and came up
empty I decided that Henry Henderson is not his name. As old as he was when
he showed up in Onslow/Carteret Counties I am guessing that he had an
earlier wife. There are other Hendersons who changed their names because of
"problems" and he might be another. I find it interesting that the
Henderson Bible gave full information on Margaret Ann Ward's first marriage
to Archeleus Hatsell, but when she remarried to Henry the entry only says
she married. There was nothing about who she married. Maybe they didn't
like the guy.

Clan Henderson has not been able to help me, either.

Here's a note I have on in my files: Henry and Margaret are listed in the
1850 census in Carteret County, North Carolina - White Oak Township - This
census was taken on or about September 13, 1850 - Henry was listed as age 37
and a farmer - Margaret was also listed as age 37 - This would have put
their years of birth as about 1812/1813

David Hatchell (note change in spelling) was age 17, therefore born c. 1833
Ann Hatchell was age 14, therefore born c. 1836
Above 2 were children of A. G. Hatsell (Hatchell) There was also a son,
Edward, who apparently did not survive.
Octavia and Victoria were twin girls, age 4, born c. 1846
Isaac was age 2, born 10/18/1847 (turned 3 shortly after the date of the
census.

The marriage Bonds are dated 2/26/1844
Married by N. B. Hancock with Daniel R. Henderson as bondsman in Onslow
County, North Carolina. She was given as Margaret Hatsell. Jasper
Etheridge signed as the clerk of the county court on both the bond and the
license. I have no Daniel R. listed with this family.

Margaret's father was Benjamin Ward. He added a codicil to his will to
change Margaret's name from Hatsell to Henderson shortly before he died.

Oh how complicated it gets.

Thanks so much for the information on this particular Isaac Henderson. You
mentioned his father is Henry Henderson..... do you know the father of
Henry? I do not have a Henry in my data that would fit this situation.
