Hi
We have found two John McWilliams/McQuilliams listed for NC prior to
1790, one in Hyde County, and one in Salisbury district, Rowan county.
We believe this may be the same person? or possibly the father of our
last documented ancestor Lewis McWilliams/McQuilliams who died in
Mecklenburg County, NC in 1797, lack of records has prevented us from
making a link, any help you may offer on Census Lookups will be greatly
appreciated. We have found the spelling of the surname due more to the
writers understanding of the name as it is pronounced Mic Williams,
therefore any close approximation at this point is acceptable.
Thanks
John McQyuilliams
